What We Know About the Illinois Green Sustainability Incentive (SB1911)

SB1911 creates a 5% additional tax credit for productions that complete a sustainability plan certified under upcoming state guidelines.
The uplift applies to qualified production spending in Illinois.
Qualification for the incentive begins once the criteria are approved.
Illinois is the first state in the U.S. to introduce an incentive specifically tied to sustainable filmmaking practices.
The state is anticipated to release official requirements and certification criteria around early to mid 2026.
